Nigerian forward David Okereke is set to return to Cremonese following Torino’s decision not to activate the option to sign him permanently.

Okereke had joined Torino on a six-month loan deal in January, with the possibility of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

However, the 26-year-old striker did not score or assist in his nine appearances for the Serie A side, leading to Torino’s decision not to pursue a full transfer.

According to reports from Toro News, the deadline for triggering the purchase clause expired on June 14, leaving Okereke to return to Cremonese.

The forward has just one year left on his contract with the Serie B club, who are now looking to sell him.

Okereke joined Cremonese from Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge in 2022.

During his time with the Italian club, he has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 57 appearances across all competitions.
