Okenwa’s demise is big blow to the NNL and Nigerian football – Katken

Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League Lawrence Katken has stated that the demise of the Chairman of the Nigeria National League Chidi Ofor Okenwa is a big blow to the nation’s second-tier league.

Katken speaking in a chat with brila.net revealed that he had a discussion with the deceased less than 24 hours before his passing on assignments and plans on how to go about the resumption of the current Nigeria National League season that has been without action since December 2019.
He added that he is one that will be greatly missed by the league and Nigerian football.
“Actually we received the news with a lot of devastation and shock, here is somebody I spoke with Monday night and by Tuesday morning around 10:30 am I called and he didn’t pick. Only for me to be told after my call that this is what has happened.
We have been planning on how to reach a true start despite the Coronavirus and he has been discussing that with his colleagues at the NFF board and everything was working positively until this.
It’s a big blow to the NNL, it’s a big blow to the Nigeria Football Federation knowing who he is and his contribution to Nigerian football.”
