Coach Gbenga Ogunbote said winning his first major trophy was a miracle and remain one of the greatest moments of his career.
Ogunbote led Rangers international of Enugu to victory in 2018 Aiteo Cup over Kano at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The match was tagged ‘The Miracle of Asaba’ by many football fans across the country, as Ogunbote’s Rangers had to come back from three goals deficit to level at three all, and finally clinching the title on penalties.
While reminiscing on the feat, Ogunbote who failed to land a trophy despite managing Enyimba international, Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars of Akure, said the manner of which his team won the game was a miracle.
“Remembering that game in Asaba, I want to call it a miracle of a believer, I think it should go into Guinness book of record in football, it makes me feel great and happy, that winning my first major trophy in that manner.”
“It was a good one and a challenging one to win more.” He said in a social media chat with Family United By Football.
Coach Ogunbote who took Sunshine Stars to the semi-finals stage of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup is currently in charge of Nigeria professional football league side Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
