Ogunbote led 3SC to a fourth-place finish in the recently concluded 2023-2024 season. It was the end of his third stint with the club, confirmed following their victory over Sporting Lagos on the final day of the campaign. “As I speak to you, my contract will expire at the end of the season,” Ogunbote stated after the game. The former Rangers and Rivers United coach also mentioned that discussions for a possible extension are underway. “They are talking about a contract extension, bringing on offers. Until we reach a conclusive agreement, we consider the season over,” he added. Shooting Stars narrowly missed out on CAF Champions League qualification, finishing fourth on the table with 62 points from 38 matches.
