Ogunbote Claims Remo Stars Are ‘Little Baby’ in NPFL Title Race

Remo Stars boss, Gbenga Ogunbote once again rejected suggestions that his team are the favorites for NPFL, insisting they only want to finish in good position.

Remo Stars defeated Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan 1-0 in the match day 11 of Nigeria Professional football league season in Ikenne on Sunday.

The victory ensured the Sky Blues side returned to the top of the table and also preserved their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Asked about Remo’s title hopes after the victory, the former Enyimba boss told brila.net .

“We are still an underdogs, baby of the league and all we are trying to do is to make sure we beat the drop. Anything after that is a bonus.”

“The moment we start talking about winning the league, then it will result to unnecessary pressure and I have name and integrity to protect. We just want to finish in good position.” He said on Sunday.

Remo Stars struggled to break down much organised Shooting Stars, but a moment of magic from their Captain Junior Nduka turned the game on its head and delivered three points out of nothing.

Ogunbote, refused to criticise his team, but insisted that Shooting Stars played a good game.

“I’m not disappointed, this is a local derby and don’t forget this is a team we defeated 4-0 sometime ago.”

“They prepared well and came for us man for man. They didn’t allow us to play and they denied us the space to play our game. “

“I give kudos to the players for winning such a difficult team.” He concluded.
