Ogunade wants Nigeria Basketball Federation to help in hosting the FIBA Afrobasketball Tournament after Angola withdraws from hosting the tourney.
As the battle for the crown of African basketball begins, Chairman of Lagos State Basketball Association, Babs Ogunade, has called on the Nigeria Basketball Federation to help out in hosting the event if they can.
Ogunade stated that he cannot judge any country who has declined to host due to poor economic situations on the continent.
“I want to call on the NBBF to kindly help in the hosting of the FIBA Afrobasketball tournament.
“I cannot blame Angola for declining in hosting because any country on the continent can withdraw due to one reason or the other,” Ogunade said.
Uncertainty continues as Angola withdraws from hosting the FIBA Afrobasketball Tournament which is expected to begin in August.
Nigeria will be taking part in the forthcoming event, with other countries like, South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Rwanda, Egypt, Uganda, Cote d’Ivore, Congo, Central Africa Republic and Cameroon, all set to be in action.
