Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced a ₦50 million support package for Nigeria’s Super Falcons ahead of their victory against the Amazons of Benin Republic in the final qualifying round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The governor made the announcement on Monday when he received the 10-time African champions at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, ahead of Tuesday’s clash at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw and on aggregate 3-1.
Nigeria headed into Tuesday’s return leg in Abeokuta with a 2–0 first-leg advantage earned in Cotonou, courtesy of goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo and Esther Okoronkwo.
Head coach Justine Madugu assured that his side will complete the job and secure a place at the 14th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026, which they did.

and other facilities that will make Abeokuta a true sports and tourism destination,” he added.
“Super Falcons, a Symbol of Leadership and Discipline”
The Ogun State governor commended the Super Falcons for their record 10th WAFCON title won in Morocco, describing them as symbols of leadership, teamwork, and discipline who continue to inspire millions of Nigerian women.
“What they represent goes far beyond football, they embody leadership, teamwork, and discipline.”
“Through their example, millions of young women are learning that excellence knows no gender, and that with hard work and unity, they too can break barriers and achieve greatness,” Abiodun remarked.
He assured the team of the unwavering support of Ogun State and urged them to continue making the nation proud.
