OGC Nice Boss Reveals Moffi’s “Heartbreak” over AFCON Snub

Terem Moffi, despite the setback of missing the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations, is solely focused on helping to his club, OGC Nice.

Moffi scored twice in the AFCON qualifiers, but found himself excluded from Nigeria’s squad bound for the tournament in Cote D’Ivoire later this month.

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro chose Sadiq Umar, Victor Osimhen, and Victor Boniface as the team’s forward options.

Expressing his thoughts on the decision, OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli acknowledged Moffi’s disappointment over the AFCON squad exclusion, but emphasized that the forward has swiftly shifted his focus to club responsibilities.

“I have two different feelings (on the absence of Moffi at the Africa Cup of Nations). On the one hand, regret because Terem Moffi cared a lot to represent his country, his family and his friends,” Farioli told reporters.

“But on the other hand, he is our best recruit of January and we are happy that he is with us.

“He trained with a very positive mindset with the desire to do well and put himself at the disposal of the team. We see him very focused and very determined.

“The disappointment is gone and he is focused on the next match.”
