Ofili, Ajayi others Shine in African Championships, Advance to Semi-Finals

Nigerian athletes have made a strong start in the track events at the ongoing African Championships in Douala, Cameroon.

Kanyinsola Ajayi, the newly crowned Nigerian 100m Champion, advanced to the semi-finals by winning his 100m heat with a time of 10.21 seconds.

Ghana’s Isaac Botsio secured second place.

In men’s 100m heat 2, Godson Brume finished third, with the race won by Joseph Fahnbulleh, who clocked in at 10.45 seconds.

Meanwhile, Usheoritse Itsekiri came in second in his men’s 100m heat 3, following Zimbabwe’s Tapiwanashe Makarawu, who won with a time of 10.35 seconds.

In the women’s category, Oayinka Olajide won her 100m heat with a time of 11.67 seconds, securing her place in the semi-finals.

Favour Ofili also advanced to the semis, winning her heat with an impressive 11.22 seconds.

All semi-final races at the African Championships in Douala are scheduled for Saturday.
