President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Sam Ocheo has stated that he isn’t losing hope on the ability of the Nigeria Handball national team to still qualify for the Handball world cup next year in Egypt despite opening it Africa nations cup campaign with a 30-24 points defeat to 2018 Third place winner Angola.
Ocheo speaking in a chat with brila.net ahead of the team’s second group stage game later today against Gabon said Nigeria still have a good enough chance especially after the other game in the group ended in a draw which means a win for Nigeria will see the team place second in the group and a win away from qualification to the next round.
“We still have every chance to qualify for the world cup, interestingly Gabon and Libya played out a 22-22 draw so that gives us a good feel.
“If we are able to cling our match then we go to second on the table expectedly because Angola is expected to edge out Libya based on form and pedigree but again this is the African cup of nations and anything can happen.”
