Former Rivers United captain and striker, Nyima Nwagua, is on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian second-tier side Al Sadd Club.

The 31-year-old forward, who had a solid season with Rivers United, contributing to the team’s 8th-place finish.

He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 34 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches last season.

Nwagua played a crucial role in Rivers United’s 2021/2022 NPFL triumph, helping the team secure the league title with four games to spare.

Al Sadd Club officially announced Nwagua’s arrival through their social media, confirming that the former Lobi Stars striker would be joining them for the upcoming season.

Upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport, Nyima Nwagua was welcomed by Mohannad Aldousery, the supervisor of Al Sadd’s first team, who will assist him in settling in and finalizing the details of his deal.

With Nwagua’s departure, Rivers United may look to the transfer market to bring in a new striker ahead of the upcoming NPFL season.
