Nigeria has been striped off of the gold medal it won in the women’s 4x100m relays at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The is as a result of a doping investigation on a member of the relay team, Grace Nwokocha, which came back positive.
Nwokocha failed a routine drug test few weeks after the Commonwealth Games and was provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit.
It was established that her sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Ostarine and Dihydroxy-LGD-4033, a metabolite of Ligandrol.
According to the statement published on the Games’ website on Friday, Nwokocha’s individual results from the women’s 100m, women’s 200m and women’s 4x100m, were all expunged, including the forfeiture of any points and prizes.
Team Nigeria was stripped of the gold with second place England upgraded to first position, Jamaica second and Australia third.
