Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku has called on his players to maintain their focus and hunger for success as they prepare for a critical away fixture against Heartland Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
Coming off an emphatic 5-0 demolition of Abia Angels, Aduku believes the victory has injected confidence into his team but warned against complacency as the stakes get higher.
“Winning 5-0 is a great result for us and a massive morale booster, but the reality is that the next game is a different ball game entirely.”
“We’re not playing Abia Angels again; we’re up against Heartland Queens, and it’s away from home. That brings a whole new challenge.”
The Edo Queens’ attacking display against Abia Angels was nothing short of clinical, but Aduku stressed the importance of taking nothing for granted, especially with Heartland Queens looking to defend their home turf.
“We can’t afford to undermine them,” Aduku said. “Every team in this league is competitive, and Heartland Queens are no exception. We’ve prepared well, and we’re ready to fight for the result.”
The Edo Queens coach is known for his no-nonsense approach, and his words reflect a desire to instill discipline in his squad.
“When you’re playing away, the dynamics change completely. You have to work harder, stay organized, and take your chances. That’s the mentality we’re carrying into this game,” Aduku explained.
The nature of Edo Queens’ recent victory has turned heads across the league, but Aduku remains grounded, focused solely on ensuring his team stays on course.
His belief in the squad’s ability to deliver is evident, but he is quick to remind them of the need for consistency.
Heartland Queens, playing in front of their fans, will undoubtedly pose a sterner test, and Aduku knows his team must match their intensity.
With the NWFL title race heating up, every point matters, and the defending champions, Edo Queens are determined to keep their momentum alive.
As Aduku put it, “We are good to go, but now it’s about showing that same hunger, that same drive, and proving we belong at the top.”
