Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme was in action for Turkish league leaders Trabzonspor in their clash with Fenerbahce on Tuesday but could not get a goal to his name.
The game was the first meeting of the two-legged Turkish Cup semi-final between both side and it was Trabzonspor who goes into the second leg with a little advantage.
Nwakaeme fired blank in the game played at the Senol Gunes Stadium, but goals from Filip Novak and Alexander Solorth to sealed a nervy win for Trabzonspor who were without another Nigerian John Mikel Obi.
Solorth gave Trabzonspor the lead in the 36th minute before Novak added the second six minutes after an hour mark.
Fenerbahce pulled one back through Vedat Muriqi in the 82nd minutes to set up a nervy ending to the game.
Meanwhile, Nwakaeme didn’t finish the game as he was replaced Bilal Başaçıkoğlu at the closing stages of the game.
