Victor Osimhen was involved in Napoli’s Europa League round of 32 first leg tie against Spanish side Barcelona on Thursday.
Osimhen recovered from a knee injury to take part in the game which ended 1-1 at Camp Nou.
However, it wasn’t a perfect outing for the Nigerian as he labored to impose himself in the encounter, before he was substituted.
Statistics showed Victor Osimhen had a poor game by his standard: despite lasting for 80th minutes, the Nigerian striker managed just 17 touches of the ball, significantly fewer even than the two goalkeepers.
He attempted one shot all the game and was dispossessed on two different occasions.
Osimhen also wasted an excellent chance to put Napoli ahead in the first half. A perfect through ball from Fabian Luiz put Osimhen through on goal, with just the goalkeeper to beat, but his weak left-footed effort was saved by Stegen.
Victor Osimhen who has emerged as a key player up front for Spalletti’s side in Serie A this season and will be aiming to return to his best when they visit Cagliari on Monday.
He has six goals in fifteen Serie A outings and four in five Europa League game for the Luciano Spalleti’s men this season.
