The NPFL season is set to commence next year this was made known by IMC the Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, after the body’s intense meeting and Club representatives in Abuja, Wednesday.
Unlike earlier reports that the new season was set to kick off on the 28th of December, Elegbeleye revealed that the date was too close to start the league.
“We resolved to start the league by first doing the draws on the 28th of December then we now kick of the league itself on January 8th,” Elegbeleye said. “That’s the resolution and that’s what we are going to do. We will make the draws open on live television.”
“We are supposed to start on December 28th, they said it was too close for them they suggested January 8th and we agreed with them.”
Other matters discussed were how to improve the league and also to decide on the reward system of teams participating in the new NPFL season.
