The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Gbenga Elegbeleye, has announced that referees will be empowered with communication devices ahead of the 2024/2025 league season.

During the Annual General Meeting of the league in Abuja, Elegbeleye stated that the NFF will partner with international bodies to train Nigerian referees on the operations of the Video Assistant Referee.

“We have concluded the procurement of communication gadgets that can minimize officiating errors, and these will be available for NPFL Referees from the new season (NPFL25).

The 2024/2025 NPFL season will begin on 31st August 2024.
