In an unexpected twist, Rangers Int’l head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has downplayed his team’s chances of competing for the NPFL title just a few games into the season.
Ilechukwu, in a seemingly sarcastic tone, stated that clubs like Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Rivers United are better positioned to fight for the title, while Rangers would, “watch from the sidelines.”
“Title, title again? I think the team at the top right now is the strongest in the league. But we are going to hang on the fence waiting. I don’t think Rangers is close to the title race,” Ilechukwu quipped.
He also acknowledged the team’s struggles in continental football and emphasized that Rangers’ main priority is avoiding relegation.
“People are tipping us for relegation, but we will make sure we stay on our feet,” he added, noting that the real title contenders are clubs like Enyimba, Remo Stars, Rivers United, and Kano Pillars.
