The Stanley Eguma’s side was held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Sunshine Stars. Osimaga Duke scored a brilliant volley in the 52nd minute for Sunshine Stars, while Alex Oyowah equalized for Rivers United in the second half.
At Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars banished the agony of derby defeat to Remo Stars with 4-1 thrashing of Niger Tornadoes.
Ayobami Adekunle opened the floodgate of goals with opener for Shooting Stars in the 16th minute, but Chidi Ernest restored parity for the visitors in the 35th minute.
Shooting Stars responded in devastating fashion with goals Ayodeji Bamidele, Gbolagade Adelowo, and Ayobami Junior added three more goals to secure the victory for Shooting Stars.
In Aba, Enyimba International bounced back with a 1-0 win against Kwara United, thanks to Chijioke Mbaoma’s penalty conversion in the 45+3 minute.
