Veteran NPFL coach and former coach of Nigeria’s U17 national team Alphonsus Dike has stated that clubs must be ready to make sacrifices in order to make headway as per the decisions that will be taken to have a conclusive end to the league season which was disrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Dike speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the current situation of things is one that can easily be scaled by ending the league as the table currently stand and only pick teams for continental assignment by virtue of their standings and also ensure that there is no relegation from the topflight while the NNL which has been inactive for long also plan a new season where everyone can come back afresh.
“We should just take it as a sacrifice, the way it is on the table let’s end it this way, and lets every club go back and strategize. Let them pick the first three or five clubs to go and represent the country in the continental engagement.
It’s an emergency situation, asking clubs to come back now with clubs not having the resources to pay salaries. No clubs should be relegated, let every clubs sacrifice knowing that it’s an emergency situation.”
