Not impressed! Pirlo’s Verdict on Akinsanmiro Serie B Debut

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro made his debut over the weekend with Italian club, Sampdoria.
The Inter Milan midfielder joined Sampdoria, who are in Italy’s lower division, this summer.
His debut saw Sampdoria settle for a 2-2 draw against Frosinone, however, head coach Andrea Pirlo was not satisfied with the Akinsanmiro’s performance.
The 19 year old played for 84 minutes and despite his stats, including an 85% pass accuracy and a perfect record for long balls.
Won 8 of 13 duels, completed four out of six dribbles, blocked one shot, and made three interceptions, it was his turnover possession which soiled his performance.
In his post match presser, Pirlo pointed these mistakes, requesting for improvement, particularly regarding the Nigerian’s ball hugging tendencies.
“Akinsanmiro has quality, but sometimes he likes to keep the ball too much, and we need to file down this detail,” Pirlo said.
“If you keep the ball too much with structured players in Serie B, you cannot afford it.”
Sampdoria will face Reggiana next at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris on Saturday, August 24.
