Interim Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen has dismissed reports suggesting that the Nigeria Football Federation has made contact with Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, about representing Nigeria.
Multiple reports had claimed that the 27-year-old Center back, who was born in England, had chosen to play for Nigeria at senior level.
However, Eguavoen clarified that no direct communication has occurred between the NFF and Adarabioyo.
“I didn’t speak with Tosin, but he’s a good player,” Eguavoen told Premium Times.
“He’s one of the players we’re monitoring. Every Nigerian playing worldwide has the right to play for Nigeria, including Tosin.”
Although born in England to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo remains eligible to represent both nations.
Despite a career that has seen him play for Manchester City, Fulham, and now Chelsea, he has yet to make his international debut.
Eguavoen concluded that the NFF is keeping an eye on the defender’s progress but reiterates that, no formal approach has been made.
