No Small Teams! Don’t Undermine Victory against Dominican Republic – Aniagboso

Flying Eagles goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso has appealed to supporters not to underestimate the team’s victory against the Dominican Republic in their opening game at the FIFA U20 World Cup.

In a Chat with BRL, Aniagboso argued that there were no minnows in the group or even the tournament.

“No match is small and no match is big. The Dominican Republic qualified for the World Cup and we know what it means to qualify for the World Cup.

“Italy, Brazil and the Dominican Republic are strong teams, so, there are no small matches against any of these three.

‘We are all looking to face Italy in our next game which will be tougher than the first one.”

He also described the goal conceded as a wake up call and extra motivation.

“I felt bad because this is my first World Cup game and I conceded a goal. Although it’s fine, it’s sometimes a motivation. The goal motivated me that I had a lot of work to do and I kept cheering them up.

“Also the goal woke us up to know we have a lot to do. You know sometimes, disappointment is a blessing in disguise. So, this has helped us to know that VAR is watching and you have to be more focused and avoid making silly mistakes at the back.”
