Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has pushed back against criticisms of the selection of Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya, ahead club teammate Theophilus Afelokhai.
Agu welcomed the arguments of Afelokhai being more relevant at Enyimba, but argues that Ezenwa’s contribution and role in the Eagles at this time couldn’t be jettisoned.
Ezenwa is a regular for Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr and has been the most prominent player from the NPFL in the Eagles for two years, despite his limited game time at club level.
The goalkeeper was one of three custodians called up for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
