Galatasaray deputy chairman, İbrahim Hatipoğlu has confirmed that the club is working to make Victor Osimhen’s stay permanent.
The Nigerian striker joined Galatasaray on loan after failing to secure a move to a top European club before the transfer window closed.
With the loan arrangement designed to give Osimhen regular playing time, as Napoli had left him out of their squad list for the season, there is a clause for him to transfer to a major European side in January if the clubs involved meet Napoli’s conditions.
Hatipoğlu has now clarified the club’s stance, saying that Osimhen is under contract with Galatasaray until June 2025, and the club is keen to extend his stay beyond that.
In a statement quoted by NTV Spor Hatipoğlu said, “Osimhen’s leaving in January is out of the question.
“In fact, we are making plans to have Osimhen play next season as well. Osimhen is a Galatasaray player until June. Discussing this is aimed at changing the agenda, at spoiling the pleasure of watching Osimhen.”
“The player shows how devoted he is to Galatasaray in every match. A person plays where he is happy. He has a contract with us until the end of the season.
“He is very happy to have come to Galatasaray. We should think about how he will be together with Osimhen in the following seasons. There is no need to discuss whether he will leave during the break.”
Hatipoğlu also noted that Osimhen’s happiness at Galatasaray could be crucial for his long-term stay.
However, as he seeks to solidify his reputation as one of Africa’s greatest strikers, it remains to be seen whether Osimhen will stay in Turkey after January or pursue a move to a top European club.
