No Iheanacho Magic For Sevilla In La Liga Defeat

Kelechi Iheanacho could not replicate his impressive Copa del Rey night, coming off the bench when Sevilla hosted Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.

Iheanacho broke his duck with a brace for Sevilla in last week’s Cup game and would have been counted on to do it again.

The forward was named as a substitute against Real Sociedad and got his moment in the final 20 minutes of the game with Sevilla down by two.

La Real fired ahead through Takefusa Kubo in the 34th minute and in the second half, Mikel Oyarzabal doubled for the visitors on 68 minutes.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s introduction raised some hope for the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan faithfuls as he replaced Isaac Romero.

The former Manchester City forward put in some work and went close to halving the deficit but flopped it.

Under pressure from two defenders, Iheanacho made a good run inside the box and beat his markers but off balance couldn’t nick the ball in from close range.

It left fans disappointed as they started leaving their seats for the exit even before the final whistle.

Sevilla dropped points and were overtaken by Sociedad, who moved to 10th in the standings, two places ahead of Sunday’s hosts.
