Acting General Manager of Crown FC Kunle Oyeleye has faulted the double standard adopted by the NFF that approved the use of the Points per game as a season-ending mechanism and decided to cancel the NNL completely despite having also played up to Week 5 in the NNL season.
Oyeleye speaking in a chat with brila.net said the decision by the football ruling body in Nigeria is unfortunate as it fails to give consideration to what has been expended by teams in the NNL that have been in camping before the Covid-19 waiting for the league organizers to signal the continuation of the season which was halted before the 2019 December festive break.
“The organizer of the leagues in the country has spoken though it’s quite unfortunate that what goes to the gander cannot go to the goose this time around. It’s quite unfortunate, I see no reason why PPG should be used for NPFL and cannot be used for NNL considering the amount of money expended on the league so far and the kind of delay we suffered from December till date. But all well and good, our hands are tied there is nothing we can do.”
