Nigeria’s wrestling coach, Purity Akuh is confident in his team’s ability to win medals as they ramp up preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris.
Speaking after a send-off event organized in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, Akuh outlined the team’s plan to participate in a Pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid before heading off to their training camp in Germany.
“We are in camp at the moment, in Barresa,” Akuh disclosed. “The Federation has been very, very serious about preparation.”
“We have been in a series of campaigns, putting our athletes in shape,” Akuh said. “We had our unveiling of our Olympic athletes. The team is planning to attend the Grand Prix of Spain as part of our preparation too.”
He added, “From there, we will go to Germany for the training tour to finally prepare our athletes for Paris and the 2024 Olympic Games.”
