Nigeria’s U-19 women’s cricket team kicked off their T20 World Cup qualifiers with a commanding victory over Tanzania, on Sunday in Kigali.
The Junior Female Yellow Greens secured a four-wicket win, with Lillian Ude taking five wickets while conceding just 12 runs.
Tanzania finished their innings at 108 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
In response, Nigeria started their innings cautiously, ultimately scoring 111 runs for the loss of six wickets in 16.5 overs.
Key contributions came from Christabel Chukwuonye and Victory Igbinedion, who played pivotal roles in the team’s success.
This win places Nigeria in a strong position within their group as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in their next match today.
The team aims to secure Africa’s second ticket to the World Cup in Malaysia next year.
