Nigeria’s Men 4×100 team Flunks World championship Chance

It was mixed feeling for Team Nigeria at the grand finale of the Lagos Club Athletics Series on Friday as the women relay team booked a place in the World Championship, while the men failed to qualify.

The women’s 4x400m quartet Omolara Omotosho, Patience Okon-George, Ella Onojuvwevwo and Imabong Uko secured another spot for Nigeria in Budapest with a season’s best of 32:27:61secs.

 

The time them them up 14th and hood enough to secure their ticket to the World Championships.

However, the men’s 4x100m team failed to qualify for the World championship despite bettering their previous time.

Favour Ashe, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola and Godson Brume ran 38.65secs in the final of their event, which was not enough for qualification.

They remain 18th in the classification, two spot outside the best 16 countries that will participate in the event in Budapest.
