Nigeria’s Edna Imade and Gift Monday found the back of the net for their respective teams in a thrilling encounter as Granada secured a 2-1 victory over Costa Adeje Tenerife in Saturday’s Spanish Liga F match.
Imade opened the scoring for Granada in the 39th minute, expertly finishing from Ariadna Mingueza’s assist to register her 11th league goal of the season.
Mingueza doubled the host’s lead early in the second half, giving Granada a commanding 2-0 advantage at Ciudad Deportiva del Granada.
Tenerife’s Gift Monday pulled one back in the 90th minute, converting from Maria Perez’s assist to score her seventh league goal of the campaign.
However, it was too late to deny Granada the win.
Nigerian Stars Impress
Imade, who played the entire match, has been pivotal for Granada this season, while Monday also completed the full 90 minutes, continuing her impressive form with seven goals and two assists in 13 appearances.
Their compatriot, Rinsola Babajide, started for Tenerife but was substituted in the 59th minute for Linnea Laupstad.
League Standing Updates
The victory sees Granada leapfrog Tenerife into sixth place in the Liga F standings with 22 points from 15 matches. Tenerife now sits in seventh with 20 points.
Granada will look to continue their momentum when they visit Eibar on January 25, while Tenerife will aim to bounce back in their home clash against Madrid CFF on the same date.
