Aruna Quadri has been knocked out of the Men’s Singles competition at China Smash 2024, following a Round of 32 loss.
Quadri was defeated 3-1 by Sweden’s Anton Källberg at Shijingshan Shougang Park on Tuesday night.
Ranked 19th in the world, Aruna entered the match as the favorite, having secured a 3-1 victory over Finland’s Benedek Olah (13-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-7) in the Round of 64.
Despite a strong start, winning the first set 11-4, Quadri was unable to maintain his momentum as Källberg, ranked five places below him, took the next three sets 6-11, 11-8, 11-9.
With the loss, Quadri is out of contention for the tournament’s $2 million grand prize.
