Nigerian sprinter Chidi Okezie is elated by the quality of training organized for the team as preparation for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The US-born athlete highlighted the conducive environment and excellent facilities at the training camp in Germany, which he believes are essential for the team’s training regimen.
“Here at the Germany camp, we have pretty decent facilities, a nice track, a nice recovery room, and great weather. I’m just excited to be here and ready to run,” Okezie stated.
Okezie, who secured the gold medal in the 400 meters at the African Games in Ghana, is among Nigeria’s top medal hopefuls for the Paris Games.
Recently, he set a new personal best of 44.97 seconds in the 400 meters at the Edmonton Athletics Invitational, which secured his qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Additionally, Okezie and the Nigerian men’s 4x400m relay team, consisting of Dubem Nwachukwu, Dubem Amene, and Adewale Sikiru, earned automatic qualification for the Olympics by posting a season’s best of 3:01.74 to finish second in their heat.
Okezie also clocked a time of 46.16 seconds to win Men’s 400m Heat 2 at the 2024 African Championships in Douala.
