Akor Adams got on the score sheet in Wednesday’s friendly against Ligue 2 side, FC Martigues to inspire Montpellier’s first win in preseason.
Adams who has featured in five games so far this preseason, started Wednesday’s game and found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to put Montpellier ahead against Martigues in the 2-1 win.
The Nigerian forward missed the first match of the off season against Girona, but got minutes in subsequent matches against Southampton (46′), St. Etienne (63′) and Fiorentina (81′).
His performance against the Ligue 2 was an improvement as it was for the entire team after defeats in their last three games.
Last season he scored 8 goals in 32 Ligue 1 appearances and managed 2 assists. There were long spells when he didn’t score and it quickly stirred reports of a possible sale.
So far, the Club seem to be satisfied with Adams and the former Lillestrom forward is expected to improve in his second season in the French league.
The 23 year-old joined Montpellier from Norwegian side Lillestrom in last summer for €4.50m and is contracted to the club until 2027.
