Nigerian Footballer Gets Massive Birthday Gift With Saudi Arabia Deal

Forward, Chinonyerem Macleans has made a switch to Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab Women FC.

The Former Lokomotiv Moscow forward was unveiled by her new team on October 1,  which is coincidentally her birthday.

She spent three-season with Russian side, Moscow before switching to the Arab club.

Speaking after her unveiling, Chinonyerem stated: “I’m excited to join Al Shabab Women FC and contribute to the team’s success. Saudi Arabia’s vision for women’s football is inspiring, and I’m proud to be part of this journey.”

The club’s Chairman also spoke on the new signing and how she’ll influence the younger teams.

“Macleans’ signing demonstrates our commitment to excellence. Her skills and experience will elevate our team and inspire young Saudi women to pursue football careers.”

Al-Shabab Women FC aims to challenge for the Saudi Women’s Premier League title with the Nigerian forward on board.

Chinonyerem previously played in Poland’s top division with Leczna, where she was the league’s top scorer before moving to Russia.

Before her European journey, Chinonyerem played for Abia Angels and Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

She has also represented Nigeria at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and was part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
