Nigerian born American defender Ikenna Opara has been included in 2019 Major League Soccer team of the season.
Ike Opara who also won his second MLS defender of the Year of the year in three years was joined by Walker Zimmerman of LAFC and Miles Robinson of Atlanta United in the defence .
The 30-year- old Minnesota United center back was arguably best defender in the division, scooping his defender of the year award by gathering more than 44% of the writers and reporters votes, with Robinson coming in a distant second in that category with 15.75% of the vote.
Opara who is Nigerian by decent represented the United States at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup and at the U-23 level during the 2012 CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
He made his senior international debut in January 2018 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
