Nigeria vs South Africa: We Have Our Game Ready — Finidi

  • Finidi says he has moved on from Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final win against South Africa

  • The two teams will be without key players including Osimhen and Mokoena

  • Nigeria are currently fourth in the Group C Standings

Nigeria’s Head Coach Finidi George says his side have prepared well for their upcoming encounter against South Africa.

In a matchday three fixture on Friday, Nigeria will play host to South Africa at the Nest of Champions in Uyo with the aim of getting their world cup qualifying campaign.

The Super Eagles will go into the game fourth in the Group behind Rwanda, Benin Republic and South Africa meaning Finidi’s side can’t afford to falter.

“We have trained well, the players understand the task. I trust my players and their quality. It’s a must win game,” Finidi said during the pre-match interview.

South Africa have only beaten Nigeria once in a competitive game, and in their last meeting the Super Eagles prevailed against Bafana Bafana on penalties.

“The AFCON win against South Africa is gone, this is a new game. We have our plans,” Finidi said.
