Nigeria have been eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Nigerian girls bowed out of the tournament, after losing 2-0 to Netherlands in the quarter final on Sunday night.
Christopher Musa’s side were the pre-match favorites, after reaching the last eight with a 100 percent record from the Group phase.
Despite creating several clear cut chances in both halves, the Falconets weren’t clinical enough to fashion out a goal, with the Dutch showing tactical and technical superiority.
Zera Hulswit put the Dutch in front after 11 minutes before Ziva Henry doubled the scoreline in the 33rd minute.
Falconets were awarded a penalty in the last minute by the referee, overturned by the VAR.
The Falconets exited the tournament in the last 8, but they have had a good run at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
