Team Nigeria has clinched spots in the Olympics in both the Mixed 4x400m and Men’s 4x400m relays at the World Relays, holding in Bahamas.
The Mixed 4x400m relay team comprising Samuel Ogazi, Ella Onojuvwevwo, Chidi Okezie, and Esther Elo Joseph, secured their Olympic qualification by finishing second in their heat with a time of 3:13.79.
Despite fierce competition, the Nigerian quartet ensured their place in the Olympics, with Team USA clinching the top spot with a Championship Record time of 3:11.52.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s 4x400m relay, Nigeria’s formidable team posted a season’s best time of 3:01.74, earning an automatic qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Anchored by Chidi Okezie, who sprinted a remarkable 44.46s final leg, the Nigerian team of Dubem Nwachukwu, Dubem Amene, Adewale Sikiru, and Okezie showcased exceptional teamwork and speed, securing their spot in the Olympics.
Belgium also clinched an automatic qualification, winning the race with a time of 3:00.09.
Team Nigeria will be aiming to consolidate on the feat and secure more spot in Paris 2024.
