Nigeria have no reason not to win U-23 AFCON, says Tom Dele-Bashiru

Watford of England and Nigeria midfielder Tomiwa Dele-Bashiru has backed the Dream Team VII to qualify for next year’s Olympic in Tokyo.

 

The former Manchester City midfielder is one of the foreign based player currently in the U-23 camp for the CAF Africa U-23 Cup of Nations showdown in Egypt.

 

Nigeria who are the defending Champions are placed in Group B of the competition alongside South Africa and Zambia.

 

Imama Amapakabo’s side will begin their title defence against Cote d’l voire at the Al Salaam Stadium, Cairo on Saturday.

 

Bashiru who stars for Nigeria in the FIFA U-20 World Cup is however confident the team will fly the flag of the country high in Egypt.

 

“The team is very good. I believe we can go all the way in the competition as we have the quality to do that,”

 

”I see no reason why we can’t win it.” the player said

 

The competition will kick off from 8th to 22nd of November, The top three countries in the competition will pick the ticket to represent Africa in the Men’s Football Tournament of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
