Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, led by Head Coach Rena Wakama, is preparing intensively for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Since arriving in Saarbrucken, Germany for their pre-Olympic training camp, the team has been working hard to ensure they are in top form for the global event, which will run from July 26 to August 10.
Coach Wakama said she she is confident in her team after revealing the rigorous training sessions and the players’ positive spirits.
“Things have been going well in the camp in the last few days, as we have had great practice sessions and the girls are in great spirits,” Wakama said in an interview with NBBF media.
“The girls are responding well to training and getting better every day. And that’s what matters.”
“I am confident that the girls will be able to display their talents when we get to Paris. I’m excited and looking forward to the games.”
D’Tigress will play three friendly matches. They are set to face Germany in Berlin on July 19, Serbia in Belgrade on July 21, and Japan in Lille, France on July 24.
These matches will serve as crucial tests for the team ahead of the Olympics.
