Nigeria will compete in an invitational tournament set to take place in London in May 2025.
Joining Nigeria in the tournament will be the Black Stars of Ghana, the Reggae Boys of Jamaica, and the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago.
Ghana recently announced the return of this four-team competition, which promises to bring exciting international action to the English capital.
The participating teams will battle it out in a series of competitive matches to determine the winner of the Unity Cup.
The tournament will kick off with the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 27, as Trinidad & Tobago face Jamaica in the highly anticipated “TriniJam Clash.”
The following day, Wednesday, May 28, the Super Eagles will renew their fierce rivalry with Ghana’s Black Stars in the second semi-final.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 31, with the third-place playoff followed by the final match to crown the 2025 Unity Cup champions.
This tournament will serve as an important preparation ground for Nigeria ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are also scheduled to face Russia in a friendly in June 2025, giving the team a valuable opportunity to assess their squad.
These matches will be crucial for Nigeria as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with key fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
With their World Cup hopes hanging in the balance after faltering in the last qualifying cycle, the Super Eagles desperately need strong performances to revive their campaign and secure a spot in the 2026 tournament.
Despite the excitement surrounding the tournament, the NFF has yet to confirm or comment on the fixture, leaving the Nigerian football community eagerly awaiting official confirmation on the potential clash.
