NFF to decide on Salisu Yusuf’s return to National team after serving ban for bribery

The Nigeria Football Federation Board will take a decision on whether Salisu Yusuf will return as Coach, in any capacity, to any national team job after serving a one-year ban for breach of professional conduct. Yusuf was slapped with the ban in September 2018 for receiving cash gifts to field two players in his team for the 2018 African Nations Championship.

According to the Head of Communications department, NFF, Ademola Olajire, the 53 year-old, who the Federation has “noted” served his ban, will further have his eligibility to return as national team coach deliberated by the board.

A date for that high level deliberation was neither given nor whether the Coach has offered himself for service. It’ll be recalled the cash gift case was brought forward by an investigative journalist, who fronted as an agent and offered Yusuf US$1000 to select two of his clients for the Eagles team and feature them in the CHAN.

Despite his denial of receiving bribe, Salisu Yusuf was found guilty by an NFF ethics and disciplinary committee, he was subsequently banned for a year and fined US$50,000.
