The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied recent media reports claiming that Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, will be asked to take a pay cut in order to remain in charge of the team.
Peseiro’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month, and he currently earns $70,000 per month.
According to FL sources the NFF may offer Peseiro new terms with a reduced salary or he may be replaced by local coaches Emmanuel Amunike or Finidi George.
However, as revealed by The Guardian, NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau has dismissed these claims, stating that there is “no iota of truth” to the story.
Gusau declined to comment on whether Peseiro would be retained on his current salary, but assured that the NFF will announce its decision in due course.
Despite securing qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, some Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance under Peseiro, particularly after Sunday’s match against Sierra Leone.
