NFF First Vice President Akinwumi calls for more support for women sports

First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has called for more support for women sports in Nigeria stating that the women game in terms of sponsorships and support still lags behind that of the men.
Akinwumi speaking in a chat gathered by www.brila.net said the Government needs to do more and that it also requires the private sector to also be involved as Government alone cannot be left to drive the growth of women sports in Nigeria.
He also added that parents should also be open to allowing their children actively get involved in Sports because most of the ladies doing sports had to sneak themselves into the game when they should have had the full backing of their parent or guardian as the case maybe.
“If we want to empower sports in Nigeria, we must empower the women in Sports because Sponsorship for women sports Government must help and private sector, they too must also help.
And then we must encourage parent to allow their girl children play as well because many of the times these girls had to sneak out because most of their parents don’t want their children to  venture into sports.”
