NFF elections: CAF Security Chief Emeruwa re-affirms Presidency ambition

One of the aspirants for the presidency of the Nigerian football federation, Dr. Christian Emeruwa has unveiled his intention to run for the top position amid reports of aiming secretarial role.

Emeruwa unveiled his ambition of contesting for the position of the NFF president officially in Abuja on Monday 12th of September 2022.

The CAF security boss told newsmen in his speech that he is not coming to run for the seat of the secretary general but rather gunning for the apex position of Nigeria football.

“People assume that I am interested in being the secretary general, I was approached by two of the contestants who told me they wanted me to be their secretary and I told them to point blank that, it’s either I’m the president or nothing. I have served three secretary generals I know the frustration in the office of the secretary generals, when I say frustration, I mean when you have a fantastic idea, and how that idea will be killed by the executives because you are not the one with the final say. So, I am not interested in being the secretary general of the NFF, by my current position as the head of CAF safety and head of security, I’m weighed beyond any Secretary general of any federation okay so, I’m not coming to say I want to be secretary general of a federation”.

The former NFF integrity officer also hinted that he is not also looking for a job.

“I’m not also looking for a job I have a job in Cairo, okay so, if I finish my campaign and the people feel that, it is not yet time for me, I will go back to where I am coming from and continue with my job so, it’s not like I’m looking for a job and any job thrown at me will be gotten no!, am not, I’m very comfortable where I am by Gods grace, and I am only coming to see that we can do things differently,” he said.
