After snubbing Nigeria to pursue an international career with England, Tammy Abraham’s ambitions hit a brick wall on Wednesday after it emerged he was not named in the Three Lions’ 23-man preliminary world cup list.
Tammy is of Nigerian descent and still eligible to play for the Three-time African champions in the future, if he so desires.
In a recent interview with Brila.net, NFF Vice President Seyi Akinwumi broached the matter of sounding out the Chelsea striker for a rethink on his international future.
Akinwunmi said: ‘I have no Idea if the NFF will reconsider speaking with Tammy Abraham. We just want the best, I don’t think there are any issues with the team we have or with the player either.’
The NFF named Gernot Rohr’s 30-man provisional World Cup list on Monday, that will be pruned to 23 and a final list submitted to FIFA on June 4.
