The Nigeria Football Federation has named Justin Madugu as Super Falcons, interim head coach.
In a statement released, Thursday, the NFF’s Executive Committee appointed Madugu based on a recommendation from the Technical and Development Sub-Committee.
He takes over from Randy Waldrum, who stepped down a few weeks after the Paris Olympic Games.
Although Waldrum initially expressed a desire to continue in the role, he eventually resigned due to family reasons.
However, sources within the Federation indicated that his contract had expired, and the decision was made not to renew it.
Madugu will lead the Super Falcons until a permanent head coach is appointed.
He was briefly in charge of the team last year following Nigeria’s campaign at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Madugu served as Walden’s assistant, and was handed an interim role, when the American’s contract expired at the end of the WWC.
He started Nigeria’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers, recording a big win against Ethiopia over two legs.
Their next major competition will be the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals, scheduled for next summer in Morocco.
