Cedric Bakambu’s £65million move from Villarreal to Beijing Guoan means he’s now the most expensive African footballer ever.
Before Bakambu’s move, Aubameyang was labelled the most expensive African player after his £60M move from German giants Borussia Dortmund in January.
Bakambu has been one of Villareal’s key players since joining in 2015, scoring a total of 46 goals before making the move to China.
The Congolese forward attracted interest from several European clubs including the likes of Newcastle, West Ham United and Paris Saint Germain but rumours claim multiple offers were denied by the Spanish club.Cedric is now officially set to overtake Aubameyang as the most expensive African player after completing his £73M (including taxes) transfer from Villareal to Beijing Guoan.
