Nearly a month after ending their 30-year league title drought, Liverpool’s name is finally engraved on the trophy

Liverpool’s name was engraved on the trophy on Tuesday and finally taking its place alongside the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp’s side became the earliest champions in Premier League history, clinching the title with seven games still to play when Manchester City were beaten at Chelsea in June.

Klopp’s men have taken their foot off the gas since, winning just twice and losing at Manchester City and Arsenal, and have blown their chance to break the Premier League points record.

But they still hold a mammoth 18-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s men at the top of the table and have the chance to sign off in style this week.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are the visitors on Wednesday night before Liverpool go to Newcastle on the final day of the campaign.

Klopp’s men will lift the trophy in a special ceremony on the Kop following the visit of Chelsea, a match which is free-to-air.

Sir Kenny Dalglish will present the Premier League trophy to Jordan Henderson.

Dalglish will be joined at the ceremony — during which medals will be presented to Klopp’s squad — by Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive.

This will be a different kind of ceremony to the ones that usually take place at the end of a campaign, when presentations tend to be on the pitch.

Liverpool have started the preparations for the occasion by removing a huge section of seats towards the front of the Kop and the event will have strict health and safety protocols in place.
